Chapter 89: Bhīma dispatched to protect Ghaṭotkaca amid escalating engagements
ततो युधिष्ठिरो राजा महत्या सेनया वृतः । आवन्त्यौ समरे क्रुद्धावभ्ययात् स परंतपौ,तदनन्तर विशाल सेनासे घिरे हुए राजा युधिष्ठिरने शत्रुओंको तपानेवाले और क्रोधमें भरे हुए विन्द-अनुविन्दपर आक्रमण किया
tato yudhiṣṭhiro rājā mahatyā senayā vṛtaḥ | āvantyau samare kruddhāv abhyayāt sa parantapau ||
Darauf rückte König Yudhiṣṭhira, von einem großen Heer umgeben, in der Schlacht gegen die beiden Fürsten von Avanti—Vindā und Anuvindā—vor, beide zornentbrannt und berühmt als Peiniger ihrer Feinde.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights kṣatriya-duty in a righteous war: even a king devoted to dharma must act decisively to protect his forces and uphold his cause, meeting aggression with disciplined leadership rather than personal hatred.
Sañjaya reports that Yudhiṣṭhira, backed by a large army, advances to engage the two Avanti princes Vindā and Anuvindā, who are furious and formidable in battle.
