Daiva–Puruṣakāra Discourse and the Elephant-Corps Engagement (भीमगजानीक-सम्भ्रान्ति)

Educational Q&A

The verse underscores how intention (to please an ally) can drive swift and decisive action in war, showing the ethical tension between personal loyalty and the escalating brutality of battlefield duty.

During the Kurukṣetra battle, Sātyaki rapidly shoots down the charioteer of the warrior Gāḍeya, motivated by a desire to do something pleasing for Bhīma.
