Educational Q&A

The verse underscores how moral and cosmic disorder (adharma) is mirrored by ominous natural and supernatural signs. As war approaches, the narrative frames violence not as mere strategy but as an event that disturbs the world’s balance and evokes dread.

Sañjaya reports ominous portents: turbulent winds blow in all directions, and rākṣasas and bhūtas appear and roar. These signs heighten the sense of impending catastrophe on the battlefield.
