Anuśāsana-parva 17
तेजसामपि यत् तेजस्तपसामपि यत् तपः । शान्तानामपि य: शान्तो द्युतीनामपि या झ्युति:
tejasām api yat tejas tapasām api yat tapaḥ | śāntānām api yaḥ śānto dyutīnām api yā dyutiḥ ||
Vāyu sprach: „Er, der selbst unter den Strahlenden das Strahlen ist, selbst unter den Asketen die Askese; er, der selbst unter den Friedvollen der Friedvollste ist und der Glanz unter allem, was leuchtet—er ist die höchste Vortrefflichkeit in jeder Vortrefflichkeit. Aus ihm entstehen die Welten, und in ihn lösen sie sich auf; er ist das Selbst aller Wesen. So höre nun von mir, o Bester der Menschen: Ich werde die tausendundacht Namen jenes unermesslich strahlenden Herrn Śiva verkünden. Durch bloßes Hören wirst du die Erfüllung all deiner Wünsche erlangen.“
