अध्याय १६ — शङ्कर-उमा-वरदानम् तथा तण्डि-स्तुतिः (Śaṅkara–Umā Boon-Granting and Taṇḍi’s Hymn)

अन्तरहिते भगवति सानुगे यादवेश्वर । ऋषिराश्रममागम्य ममैतत्‌ प्रोक्ततानिह,यादवेश्वर! जब पार्षदोंसहित भगवान्‌ अन्तर्धान हो गये, तब ऋषिने मेरे आश्रमपर आकर यहाँ मुझसे ये सब बातें बतायीं

antarhite bhagavati sānuge yādaveśvara | ṛṣir āśramam āgamya mamaitat proktavān iha ||

O Herr der Yādavas! Als der Erhabene Herr zusammen mit seinen Gefährten den Blicken entschwand, kam der Weise in meine Einsiedelei und berichtete mir hier all diese Dinge. Die Stelle betont die getreue Überlieferung heiliger Geschehnisse: Wenn das Göttliche unsichtbar wird, ruht die Pflicht, Wahrheit zu bewahren und weiterzugeben, auf vertrauenswürdigen Sehern und auf diszipliniertem Hören.
