अध्याय १६ — शङ्कर-उमा-वरदानम् तथा तण्डि-स्तुतिः (Śaṅkara–Umā Boon-Granting and Taṇḍi’s Hymn)
उपमन्युरुवाच एतान् दत्त्वा वरान् देवो वन्द्यमान: सुरभि: | स्तूयमानश्व विबुधैस्तत्रैवान्तरधीयत
Upamanyur uvāca: etān dattvā varān devo vandyamānaḥ surabhiḥ | stūyamānaś ca vibudhais tatraivāntaradhīyata ||
Upamanyu sprach: Nachdem der göttliche Herr diese Gaben verliehen hatte—von Surabhī verehrt und von den Göttern gepriesen—verschwand er an eben jenem Ort. Die Begebenheit macht deutlich, dass aufrichtige Hingabe und rechte Verherrlichung in göttlicher Gnade gipfeln; doch die Gegenwart des Göttlichen bleibt ungreifbar und erscheint und entzieht sich nach eigenem Willen.
