Bhīṣma’s uttarāyaṇa moment and Yudhiṣṭhira’s arrival

Educational Q&A

The verse emphasizes orderly succession and continuity of royal lineage: legitimate kingship is portrayed as arising through a divinely acknowledged chain of descent, reinforcing the cultural ideal that social and political order is sustained through rightful progeny and remembered ancestry.

Īśvara enumerates a genealogical sequence: Budha begets Purūravas; Purūravas begets Āyu; Āyu begets Nahuṣa; and Nahuṣa begets Yayāti—linking well-known figures of the Lunar dynasty within the Mahābhārata’s broader historical framework.
