सिन्धोर्नदस्य महतो निकुण्जे न्यवसत् तदा | नदीविषयपर्यन्ते पर्वतस्य समीपत:,उस समय उन्होंने सिंधु नामक महानदके तटवर्ती निकुंजमें, जो एक पर्वतके समीपसे लेकर नदीके तटतक फैला हुआ था, निवास किया
sindhornadasya mahato nikuñje nyavasat tadā | nadīviṣayaparyante parvatasya samīpataḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana sprach: Zu jener Zeit nahm er Aufenthalt in einem abgeschiedenen Hain am Ufer des mächtigen Flusses Sindhu—einem Gebiet, das sich von der Nähe des Berges bis hinab an den Flussrand erstreckte.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical value of choosing a suitable, protected place to live—one that supports self-control and safety. A liminal refuge between mountain and river suggests deliberate withdrawal and steadiness rather than impulsive action.
The narrator states that, at that point in the story, the person in focus settled in a grove along the great Sindhu river, in a tract extending from near a mountain to the riverbank—establishing the setting for the next events.
