Wisdom aligned with dharma is not passive: it stays alert to injustice and works to protect those harmed—either by rescuing them from danger or by arranging an appropriate remedy. Vidura embodies ethical responsibility within a compromised political environment.
As the Kauravas repeatedly commit harmful acts, Vidura consistently remains watchful, seeking ways to free the Pāṇḍavas from those dangers or to counteract the harm. The verse situates Vidura as a steady moral guardian amid escalating hostility.
