Sautir uvāca—patiṣyamāṇe nāgendre takṣake jātavedasi | idam antaram ity eva tadā āstīko 'bhyacodayat ||
Sauti sprach: Als Takṣaka, der Herr der Schlangen, im Begriff war, in das Opferfeuer zu stürzen, dachte Āstīka: „Dies ist die Spanne – der rechte Augenblick“, und drängte den König, eine Gabe zu gewähren.
