Śṛṅgī’s Curse on King Parikṣit
Parikṣit–Śṛṅgī–Takṣaka Causal Link
सर्व एव हि नस्तावद् बुद्धिमन्तो विचक्षणा: । अपि मन्त्रयमाणा हि हेतुं पश्याम मोक्षणे
sarva eva hi nas tāvad buddhimanto vicakṣaṇāḥ | api mantrayamāṇā hi hetuṁ paśyāma mokṣaṇe ||
„Wir alle sind, was uns betrifft, klug und scharfsinnig. Und doch sehen wir selbst nach gemeinsamer Beratung keinen tragfähigen Weg, auf dem die Befreiung gesichert werden könnte.“
शेष उवाच
Intelligence alone is not sufficient; even capable people may fail to find a solution without a valid hetu (effective means). The verse highlights humility in counsel and the ethical need to seek a truly workable path to liberation or rescue rather than relying on confidence or status.
Śeṣa speaks on behalf of a group, stating that although they are wise and have consulted together, they still cannot identify a convincing method for ‘mokṣaṇa’—a release or deliverance from the predicament at hand.
