Garuḍa–Śakra Saṃvāda and the Retrieval of Amṛta (गरुड–शक्र संवादः अमृत-अपहरण-प्रसङ्गः)
अतिदैवं तु तत् तस्य कर्म दृष्टवा महर्षय: । विस्मयोत्कम्पह्दया नाम चक्रुर्महाखगे,जिसे देवता भी नहीं कर सकते थे, गरुडका ऐसा अलौकिक कर्म देखकर वे महर्षि आश्चर्यसे चकित हो उठे। उनके हृदयमें कम्प छा गया और उन्होंने उस महान् पक्षीका नाम इस प्रकार रखा (उनके गरुड नामकी व्युत्पत्ति इस प्रकार की)--
atidaivaṁ tu tat tasya karma dṛṣṭvā maharṣayaḥ | vismayotkampahṛdayā nāma cakrur mahākhage ||
Als die großen Seher seine Tat sahen—so außerordentlich, dass sie selbst göttliches Vermögen zu übersteigen schien—ergriff sie ehrfürchtiges Staunen. Ihre Herzen bebten vor Verwunderung, und sie verliehen jenem mächtigen Vogel daraufhin einen Namen, der ihn durch die Größe seines Werkes kennzeichnete.
