Ādi-parva Adhyāya 3 — Janamejaya’s Rite, Dhaumya’s Parīkṣā, and Uttanka’s Kuṇḍala Quest

Educational Q&A

Even unintentional negligence in a sacred or respectful context is treated as a serious lapse; the proper response is immediate acknowledgement, humility, and seeking forgiveness to prevent harmful consequences.

Rama admits he unknowingly brought contaminated and cold food to a revered person and fears a punitive consequence (blindness). He pleads for pardon, after which Uttaṅka responds, moving the episode forward.
