तस्माललोकविनाशाय संतापयत भास्कर: । ततो देवानुपागम्य प्रोचुरेवं महर्षय:,और वहींसे सूर्यदेवने सम्पूर्ण जगत्‌का विनाश करनेके लिये सबको संताप देना आरम्भ किया। तब महर्षिगण देवताओंके पास जाकर इस प्रकार बोले--

Transliteration

tasmāl lokavināśāya santāpayat bhāskaraḥ | tato devān upāgamya procurevaṃ maharṣayaḥ |

Translation

So begann Bhāskara — die Sonne — in der Absicht, die Welt zu vernichten, alle Wesen mit drückender Glut zu versengen. Da traten die großen Seher zu den Göttern und sprachen folgendermaßen—
