Educational Q&A

Austerity is not merely for prestige; its true value lies in purposeful action aligned with dharma. Mandapala insists on knowing the intended fruit of his tapas so he can act accordingly, highlighting ethical intentionality and responsibility.

Mandapala addresses the gods, declaring his readiness to perform the specific act for which the reward of his austerity has been withheld. He asks the heavenly beings to disclose what fruit his tapas is meant to yield, so he may go to that realm and fulfill the required task.
