अग्निभय-प्रसङ्गे मन्दपालस्य शोकः

Mandapāla’s Lament amid the Threat of Fire

क्षिप्तं क्षिप्तं रणे चैतत्‌ त्वया माधव शशत्रुषु । हत्वाप्रतिहतं संख्ये पाणिमेष्यति ते पुनः:,“माधव! युद्धमें आप जब-जब इसे शत्रुओंपर चलायेंगे, तब-तब यह उन्हें मारकर और स्वयं किसी अस्त्रसे प्रतिहत न होकर पुनः आपके हाथमें आ जायगा”

kṣiptaṃ kṣiptaṃ raṇe caitat tvayā mādhava śaśatruṣu | hatvāpratihataṃ saṅkhye pāṇim eṣyati te punaḥ ||

Vaiśampāyana sprach: „Mādhava, sooft du diese Waffe im Kampf gegen deine Feinde schleuderst, sooft wird sie sie töten und — von keiner Gegenwaffe in der Schlacht getroffen oder verletzt — wieder in deine Hand zurückkehren.“
