Śārṅgakānāṃ Avināśaḥ (Why the Śārṅga Birds Were Spared) | शार्ङ्गकानामविनाशः
सहसं्रं प्रददौ कृष्णो गवामयुतमेव च । श्रीमान् माथुरदेश्यानां दोग्भ्रीणां पुण्यवर्चसाम्,किंकिणी और झालरोंसे सुशोभित सुवर्णखबचित एक हजार रथ जिनमेंसे प्रत्येकमें चार-चार घोड़े जुते हुए थे और प्रत्येकमें पूर्ण शिक्षित चतुर सारथि बैठा हुआ था, श्रीमान् कृष्णने समर्पित किये तथा मथुरामण्डलकी पवित्र तेजवाली दस हजार दुधारू गौएँ दीं
sahasraṁ pradadau kṛṣṇo gavām ayutam eva ca | śrīmān māthuradeśyānāṁ dogdhrīṇāṁ puṇyavarcasām ||
Vaiśampāyana sprach: Der ruhmreiche Kṛṣṇa schenkte tausend Gaben und zudem zehntausend Kühe — milchgebendes Vieh aus der Gegend von Mathurā, strahlend an Heiligkeit.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores dāna as a dharmic duty of the powerful: wealth is ethically validated when it is shared in ways that sustain life and honor worthy recipients, symbolized here by the gifting of milch cows and abundant valuables.
Vaiśaṃpāyana narrates that Kṛṣṇa makes a grand donation—counted in thousands and tens of thousands—specifically ten thousand milk-yielding cows from the Mathurā region, indicating a formal act of generosity within a larger ceremonial or diplomatic context.
