प्रभासे कृष्णार्जुनसमागमः तथा द्वारकाप्रवेशः | Kṛṣṇa–Arjuna Meeting at Prabhāsa and Entry into Dvārakā
एवं चतुर्मुख: स्थाणुर्महादेवो5भवत् पुरा । तथा सहसनेत्रश्न बभूव बलसूदन:,इस प्रकार पूर्वकालमें अविनाशी भगवान् महादेवजीके चार मुख प्रकट हुए और बलहन्ता इन्द्रके हजार नेत्र हुए
evaṁ caturmukhaḥ sthāṇur mahādevo ’bhavat purā | tathā sahasranetraś ca babhūva balasūdanaḥ ||
Nārada sagte: „So wurde in uralter Zeit der standhafte, unvergängliche Mahādeva, Sthāṇu, mit vier Antlitzen offenbar; und ebenso gelangte Indra, der Bezwinger Bālas, zu tausend Augen.“
नारद उवाच
Divine attributes (like Śiva’s four faces or Indra’s thousand eyes) signify functional roles within cosmic order; power is portrayed as purposeful manifestation tied to duty and governance, not merely as spectacle.
Nārada recounts an ancient account explaining how Mahādeva came to be four-faced and how Indra came to be thousand-eyed, using well-known epithets (Sthāṇu, Balasūdana) to anchor the mythic origin of their distinctive features.
