न चापि कृष्णा शक्‍्येत तेभ्यो भेदयितुं पर: । परिद्यूनान्‌ वृतवती किमुताद्य मृजावत:,कृष्णाको भी उनकी ओरसे फूट डालकर विलग करना असम्भव है; क्योंकि जब पाण्डवलोग भिक्षाभोजी होनेके कारण दीन-हीन थे, उस अवस्थामें कृष्णाने उनका वरण किया है; अब तो वे सम्पत्तिशाली होकर स्वच्छ एवं सुन्दर वेषमें रहते हैं, अब वह क्‍यों उनकी ओरसे विरक्त होगी?

na cāpi kṛṣṇā śakyeta tebhyo bhedayituṃ paraḥ | paridyūnān vṛtavatī kim utādya mṛjāvataḥ ||

Karna sagte: „Auch kann niemand sonst Kṛṣṇā von ihnen entfremden, indem er Zwietracht sät. Denn sie erwählte die Pāṇḍavas selbst damals, als sie bis zum Äußersten herabgesunken waren—von Almosen lebend und erniedrigt; um wie viel weniger würde sie sich jetzt, da sie wohlhabend, rein und prächtig geschmückt sind, von ihnen abwenden?“
