न च ते व्यसनैर्योक्तुं शक््या दिष्टकृतेन च । शकिताश्रैप्सवश्चैव पितृपैतामहं पदम्,अब वे संकटमें नहीं डाले जा सकते। भाग्यने उन्हें शक्तिशाली बना दिया है और उनमें अपने बाप-दादोंके राज्यको प्राप्त करनेकी अभिलाषा जाग उठी है
na ca te vyasanair yoktuṁ śakyā diṣṭakṛtena ca | śakitāś ca ipsavaś caiva pitṛpaitāmahaṁ padam ||
Karna sprach: „Auch durch Unheil lassen sie sich nicht zurückhalten—nicht einmal durch das, was das Schicksal verfügt hat. Sie sind tüchtig und entschlossen geworden, und in ihnen ist der Wunsch erwacht, die väterliche und ahnenererbte Herrschaft zu erlangen.“
