Intelligence Reports and the Kaurava Court’s Response

sote samaye te varṣākālike megha-samānāṁ gambhīra-garjanāṁ kurvantaḥ parasparaṁ baḍī vicitra bāteṁ karane lage | te pāñcoṁ vīrā ye bāteṁ kah rahe the, ve vaiśya-śūdra-tathā brāhmaṇa-sadṛśī na thīṁ |

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how inner nature and heroic intent can manifest in speech that transcends ordinary social patterns. It implicitly contrasts conventional, class-marked discourse with a more forceful, extraordinary mode of speaking associated with exceptional warriors, inviting reflection on character (svabhāva) and the ethical weight of words.

At night, while asleep, five warriors begin conversing among themselves. Their voices are described as deep and thunder-like, and their talk is portrayed as unusual—unlike the typical speech attributed to common social groups—signaling that something significant or extraordinary is being expressed or revealed.
