Arjuna’s Hitting of the Target at the Svayaṃvara
ततस्तं पितरस्तात विज्ञाय कुलनन्दनम् । पितृलोकादुपागम्य सर्व ऊचुरिदं वच:,तात! तदनन्तर सभी पितरोंने अपने कुलका आनन्द बढ़ानेवाले और्व मुनिका वह निश्चय जानकर पितृलोकसे आकर यह बात कही
tatas taṃ pitaras tāta vijñāya kulanandanam | pitṛlokād upāgamya sarva ūcur idaṃ vacaḥ ||
Da erkannten die Ahnenväter ihn—liebes Kind—als Freude und Ruhm des Geschlechts, kamen aus der Welt der Pitṛs herbei und sprachen alle diese Worte zu ihm.
वसिष्ठ उवाच
Righteous resolve and conduct that uphold the family’s dharma are validated not merely socially but cosmically—symbolized by the Pitṛs themselves, who represent tradition, continuity, and moral memory.
Vasiṣṭha narrates that the Pitṛs, having understood the resolve/standing of the ‘kulanandana’ (the worthy descendant), arrive from Pitṛloka and begin to speak to him, setting up their counsel or blessing in the following verses.
