Commencement of Draupadī’s Svayaṃvara
द्विरनुव्याह्वते राज्ञ: स शापो बलवानभूत् । रक्षोबलसमाविष्टो विसंज्ञश्नाभवन्नूप:,दो बार इस तरहकी बात कही जानेके कारण राजाका शाप प्रबल हो गया। उसके साथ उनमें राक्षसके बलका समावेश हो जानेके कारण राजाकी विवेकशक्ति सर्वथा लुप्त हो गयी
dvir anuvyāhvate rājñaḥ sa śāpo balavān abhūt | rakṣo-bala-samāviṣṭo visaṃjñaś ca abhavan nṛpaḥ ||
Weil der König dieselbe Äußerung zweimal wiederholte, gewann der Fluch an Macht. Und als ihn die Kraft eines Rākṣasa durchdrang, verlor der König Bewusstsein und Urteilsvermögen gänzlich.
ब्राह्मण उवाच
Speech is morally consequential: repetition can intensify a fault, and when the mind is overtaken by harmful impulses (here framed as rākṣasa-force), discernment collapses, making one vulnerable to the full fruition of a curse or wrongdoing.
A brāhmaṇa explains that the king’s repeated utterance made the curse stronger; simultaneously, a rākṣasa-like force entered him, and the king became senseless—indicating a turning point where ethical control and clear judgment are lost.
