Commencement of Draupadī’s Svayaṃvara
तमुवाचाथ राजर्षिद्धिजं मित्रसहस्तदा । आस्स्व ब्रह्म॒ंस्त्वमत्रैव मुहूर्त प्रतिपालयन्,तब राजर्षि मित्रसह (कल्माषपाद)-ने उस द्विजसे कहा--'ब्रह्मन! आप यहीं बैठिये और दो घड़ीतक प्रतीक्षा कीजिये
tam uvācātha rājarṣir dhijaṁ mitrasahas tadā | āssva brahman tvam atraiva muhūrtaṁ pratipālayan ||
Da sprach der königliche Weise Mitrasaha zu dem Zweimalgeborenen: „O Brahmane, setz dich hierher und warte einen kurzen Augenblick.“
गन्धर्व उवाच
The verse highlights royal dharma: a king should maintain courtesy, patience, and respectful speech toward a Brahmin/guest, even when circumstances are tense. Ethical restraint is shown through measured instruction rather than coercion.
King Mitrasaha (Kalmāṣapāda) addresses a dvija and asks him to sit in the same place and wait briefly (for a muhūrta), indicating a pause or delay before the next action in the episode.
