Vasiṣṭhasya śokaḥ, Vipāśā–Śatadrū-nāmākaraṇam, Kalmāṣapādasya bhaya-prasaṅgaḥ (Ādi Parva 167)

राज्युवाच अवलिपत॑ मुखं ब्रह्मन्‌ दिव्यान्‌ गन्धान्‌ बिभर्मि च । सुतार्थे नोपलब्धास्मि तिष्ठ याज मम प्रिये,रानी बोली--ब्रह्मन! अभी मेरे मुखमें ताम्बूल आदिका रंग लगा है! मैं अपने अंगोंमें दिव्य सुगन्धित अंगराग धारण कर रही हूँ, अतः मुँह धोये और स्नान किये बिना पुत्रदायक हविष्यका स्पर्श करनेके योग्य नहीं हूँ, इसलिये याजजी! मेरे इस प्रिय कार्यके लिये थोड़ी देर ठहर जाइये

rājñy uvāca—avaliptaṁ mukhaṁ brahman divyān gandhān bibharmi ca | sutārthe nopalabdhāsmi tiṣṭha yāja mama priye ||

Die Königin sprach: „O Brahmane, mein Mund ist noch befleckt (vom Betel und dergleichen), und ich trage göttliche Düfte und wohlriechende Salben. Um einen Sohn zu erlangen, bin ich noch nicht in einem Zustand, die Opfergabe zu berühren. Darum, o ehrwürdiger Opferpriester, warte ein wenig für dieses mir teure Ritual—bis ich meinen Mund gespült und gebadet habe.“
