Vasiṣṭhasya śokaḥ, Vipāśā–Śatadrū-nāmākaraṇam, Kalmāṣapādasya bhaya-prasaṅgaḥ (Ādi Parva 167)
The verse emphasizes the ethical logic of dharmic ritual: when a rite is properly undertaken with a clear intention, its fruit corresponds to that intention. The promised son is presented as a rightful outcome of sanctioned action, not an arbitrary reward.
A brāhmaṇa addresses a king and assures him that through the sacrifice he will obtain the kind of son he seeks—one characterized by exceptional valor, brilliance, and strength.
