मन्दर-समुद्रमन्थन-वर्णनम् / Description of the Churning of the Ocean with Mount Mandara
अणज्डं बिभेद विनता तत्र पुत्रमपश्यत । पूर्वार्धकायसम्पन्नमितरेणाप्रकाशता,इससे पुत्रार्थनिी और तपस्विनी देवी विनता सौतके सामने लज्जित हो गयी। फिर उसने अपने हाथोंसे एक अण्डा फोड़ डाला। फूटनेपर उस अण्डेमें विनताने अपने पुत्रको देखा, उसके शरीरका ऊपरी भाग पूर्णरूपसे विकसित एवं पुष्ट था, किंतु नीचेका आधा अंग अभी अधूरा रह गया था
aṇḍaṃ bibheda vinatā tatra putram apaśyat | pūrvārdhakāyasampannam itareṇāprakāśatā ||
Vinatā zerbrach das Ei, und dort erblickte sie ihren Sohn. Die obere Hälfte seines Körpers war vollständig ausgebildet und kräftig, doch die untere war noch unentwickelt und nicht hervorgetreten. Die Stelle macht den ethischen Preis von Ungeduld und verfrühtem Handeln sichtbar: Indem Vinatā erzwingt, was in seiner Zeit reifen sollte, bewirkt sie eine unvollständige Geburt und setzt Folgen in Gang, die ihr Geschick und den Zustand ihres Sohnes prägen.
