बलिनं मन्यसे यच्चाप्यात्मानं सपराक्रमम् | ज्ञास्यस्यद्य समागम्य मया55त्मानं बलाधिकम्
balinaṃ manyase yac cāpy ātmānaṃ saparākramam | jñāsyasy adya samāgamya mayātmānaṃ balādhikam ||
Hidimba sprach: „Weil du dich für stark und voller Tatkraft hältst, wirst du heute—wenn du mir von Angesicht zu Angesicht begegnest—erkennen, dass ich stärker bin als du.“
हिडिग्ब उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical danger of self-assured pride in one’s own power: boasting invites confrontation, and true strength is tested in encounter rather than claimed in words.
Hidimba taunts his opponent, asserting that the other’s belief in his own strength will be disproved when they meet, because Hidimba claims to be stronger.
