Ādi-parva Adhyāya 141: Bhīma–Hiḍimba Confrontation and Protective Discourse
te vayaṁ pāṇḍava-jyeṣṭhaṁ taruṇaṁ vṛddha-śīlinam | abhiṣiñcāma sādhv adya satya-kāruṇya-vedinam ||
Legitimate kingship is grounded in dharma: maturity of character, truthfulness, compassion, and sacred learning are presented as the ethical qualifications for rulership, even more than age or power.
The speaker proposes that the community should perform the formal royal consecration (abhiṣeka) of Yudhiṣṭhira, the eldest Pāṇḍava, praising his elder-like conduct despite his youth and citing his truth, compassion, and Vedic learning as reasons.
