परिष्वज्य च तस्याथ मूर्धानं स्‍्नेहविक्लव: । अंगराज्याभिषेकार्द्रम श्रुभि: सिषिचे पुन:,उसने स्नेहसे विह्लल होकर कर्णको हृदयसे लगा लिया और अंगदेशके राज्यपर अभिषेक होनेसे भीगे हुए उसके मस्तकको आँसुओंसे पुनः: अभिषिक्त कर दिया

parisvajya ca tasyātha mūrdhānaṃ snehaviklavaḥ | aṅgarājyābhiṣekārdram aśrubhiḥ siṣice punaḥ ||

Vaiśampāyana sprach: Von Zuneigung überwältigt, schloss er Karṇa an sein Herz und salbte dann mit Tränen noch einmal sein Haupt—das bereits von der Einsetzung in die Königswürde von Aṅga feucht war—und besiegelte so den politischen Akt mit einem zutiefst persönlichen Band aus Liebe und Annahme.
