Vāraṇāvata-prasaṃsā and the Pāṇḍavas’ Departure (वरणावत-प्रशंसा तथा पाण्डव-प्रयाणम्)

हुपद उवाच अकृतेयं तव प्रज्ञा ब्रह्मनू नातिसमञ्जसा । यन्मां ब्रवीषि प्रसभं॑ सखा ते5हमिति द्विज,द्रपदने कहा--ब्रह्मन! तुम्हारी बुद्धि सर्वथा संस्कारशून्य--अपरिपक्व है। तुम्हारी यह बुद्धि यथार्थ नहीं है। तभी तो तुम धृष्टतापूर्वक मुझसे कह रहे हो कि “राजन! मैं तुम्हारा सखा हूँ

hupada uvāca | akṛteyaṃ tava prajñā brahmanū nātisamañjasā | yan māṃ bravīṣi prasabhaṃ sakhā te ’ham iti dvija ||

Drupada sprach: „O Brahmane, dein Verständnis ist ungeschliffen und nicht recht auf das Angemessene ausgerichtet. Darum redest du mich so kühn an und sagst: ‚Ich bin dein Freund‘, o Zweimalgeborener.“
