Pāṇḍu’s Resolve for Renunciation and Forest Discipline

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights dharmic reciprocity in royal conduct: marriage alliances require proper gifts according to custom, and the receiving party must respond with honour and respectful hospitality.

A heroic prince gives his sister in marriage and provides the appropriate marriage gifts; Bhīṣma honours him in return, after which the prince departs and returns to his own capital.
