महीपतिरनिर्देश्यमाजिघ्रद् गन्धमुत्तमम् । तस्य प्रभवमन्विच्छन् विचचार समन्तत:,वहाँ राजाको अवर्णनीय एवं परम उत्तम सुगन्धका अनुभव हुआ। वे उसके उद्गमस्थानका पता लगाते हुए सब ओर विचरने लगे
mahīpatir anirdeśyam ājighrad gandham uttamam | tasya prabhavam anvicchan vicacāra samantataḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana sprach: „Der König nahm einen unbeschreiblichen, überaus erlesenen Duft wahr. Um seinen Ursprung zu ergründen, streifte er in alle Richtungen umher.“
वैशम्पायन उवाच
When confronted with an unusual sign, a responsible person—especially a ruler—should investigate its cause rather than dismiss it; careful inquiry is part of ethical vigilance.
The king smells an extraordinary fragrance and, trying to locate where it comes from, moves about in all directions searching for its source.
