Pāśupata-vrata Māhātmya: Dvādaśa-Liṅga Mahāvrata, Month-wise Dravya, and Pūjā-krama
आश्विने चैव विप्रेन्द्राः गोमेदकमयं शुभम् प्रवालेनैव कार्तिक्यां तथा वै मार्गशीर्षके
āśvine caiva viprendrāḥ gomedakamayaṃ śubham pravālenaiva kārtikyāṃ tathā vai mārgaśīrṣake
O ihr Besten unter den Brahmanen! Im Monat Āśvina soll man eine glückverheißende Gabe aus Gomeda (Hessonit) darbringen. Im Monat Kārttika bringe man ebenso Koralle (pravāla) dar, und auch im Monat Mārgaśīrṣa — gemäß der vorgeschriebenen monatlichen Observanz —, damit der paśu (die gebundene Seele) Verdienst erlange, das die Verehrung Śivas trägt, und damit sich die Fesseln (pāśa) durch die Gnade des Herrn (Pati) lockern.
