FAQs

By describing the audience as bhāvitātmanām—those with refined, disciplined inner selves—the verse implies that spiritual instruction bears fruit in a purified mind, where the divine greatness can be properly understood and assimilated.

The verse foregrounds worship (abhyarcya) and inner cultivation (bhāvitātmanām), pointing to a devotion-centered discipline aligned with Shaiva practice—preparatory to yogic absorption through purity, reverence, and receptivity to guru-led teaching.

Even without naming Viṣṇu directly, the Kurma Purana’s framing treats Mahādeva’s praise as spiritually authoritative within a Vaiṣṇava Purāṇa—reflecting the text’s characteristic Shaiva–Vaiṣṇava harmony where devotion to Śiva is upheld as fully consonant with Purāṇic dharma.
