Diti’s Puṁsavana Vow, Indra’s Intervention, and the Birth of the Maruts
पतिरेव हि नारीणां दैवतं परमं स्मृतम् । मानस: सर्वभूतानां वासुदेव: श्रिय: पति: ॥ ३३ ॥ स एव देवतालिङ्गैर्नामरूपविकल्पितै: । इज्यते भगवान् पुम्भि: स्त्रीभिश्च पतिरूपधृक् ॥ ३४ ॥
patir eva hi nārīṇāṁ daivataṁ paramaṁ smṛtam mānasaḥ sarva-bhūtānāṁ vāsudevaḥ śriyaḥ patiḥ
Für die Frau gilt der Gatte als höchste Gottheit. Im Herzen aller Wesen weilt Vāsudeva, der Gemahl Śrī (Lakṣmīs). Wer nach karmischen Früchten strebt, verehrt Ihn durch die vielfältigen Namen und Gestalten der Halbgötter; ebenso verehrt die Frau den Herrn, der die Gestalt des Ehemannes annimmt.
The Lord says in Bhagavad-gītā (9.23) :
This verse states that a wife traditionally honors her husband as her highest divine duty, while affirming that the ultimate Lord for all beings is Vāsudeva, the inner ruler and Lord of Lakṣmī.
In the context of serving Diti and speaking on dharma, Indra emphasizes social-religious duty while redirecting the ultimate theological conclusion to Vāsudeva as the supreme Lord.
Respect marital duties and mutual responsibility, but keep spiritual focus on devotion to Vāsudeva as the true inner guide and supreme shelter for everyone.
