Diti’s Puṁsavana Vow, Indra’s Intervention, and the Birth of the Maruts
This verse names Diti’s two sons as Hiraṇyakaśipu and Hiraṇyākṣa, famed among the Daityas and Dānavas.
He is describing Diti’s lineage and the powerful Daitya heritage connected to later divine interventions, where these figures become central antagonists in Vishnu’s pastimes.
Fame and honor within a group can arise even for those opposed to dharma; the Bhagavatam reminds readers to value devotion and righteousness over mere power or reputation.
