Sukta 3

प्राचीं॑प्राचीं प्र॒दिश॒मा र॑भेथामे॒तं लो॒कं श्र॒द्दधा॑नाः सचन्ते । यद् वां॑ प॒क्वं परि॑विष्टम॒ग्नौ तस्य॒ गुप्त॑ये दंपती॒ सं श्र॑येथाम्

prā́cīṁ-prā́cīṁ pradíśam ā́ rabhéthām etáṁ lokáṁ śraddádhānāḥ sacante | yád vā́ṁ pakváṁ parivíṣṭam agnáu tásya gúptaye dampatī́ sáṁ śrayethām ||

Eastward—still eastward—seize ye the quarter; unto this world the faithful cleave and follow. What for you twain is cooked and duly served about in the Fire, for the guarding of that, O Husband and Wife, together take your station.

Ostwärts, immer ostwärts—ergreift die Himmelsrichtung; an diese Welt halten sich die Glaubenden und folgen ihr. Was für euch beide im Agni gekocht und ordnungsgemäß ringsum aufgetragen ist—zu dessen Bewahrung, o Gatte und Gattin, nehmt gemeinsam euren Stand ein.
