Sukta 3

यद्य॑ज्जा॒या पच॑ति॒ त्वत् प॒रःप॑रः॒ पति॑र्वा जाये॒ त्वत् ति॒रः । सं तत् सृ॑जेथां स॒ह वां॒ तद॑स्तु संपा॒दय॑न्तौ स॒ह लो॒मेक॑म्

yád-yaj jāyā́ pácati tvát paráḥ-paraḥ pátir vā jāye tvát tiráḥ | sáṃ tát sṛ́jethāṃ sahá vāṃ tád astu saṃpādayántau sahá lomékam

Whatsoever the Wife doth cook, let not the Husband go still farther off from thee, O Wife, nor pass beyond thee. Set ye that matter straight together—so be it for you twain—accomplishing it in concord, not differing by so much as a single hair.

Was immer die Gattin kocht, der Gatte gehe nicht weiter fort von dir, o Gattin, und gehe nicht an dir vorbei. Richtet diese Sache gemeinsam—so sei es euch beiden—vollbringend sie in Eintracht, nicht abweichend auch nur um ein einziges Haar.
