इत्य् आदिमहापुराणे आग्नेये हरिवंशवर्णनं नाम द्वादशो ऽध्यायः कर्षक इति ख, चिह्नितपुस्तकपाठः अथ त्रयोदशो ऽध्यायः कुरुपाण्डवोत्पत्त्यादिकथनं अग्निर् उवाच भारतं सम्प्रवक्ष्यामि कृष्णमाहात्म्यलक्षणम् भूभारमहरद्विष्णुर् निमित्तीकृत्य पाण्डवान्
ity ādimahāpurāṇe āgneye harivaṃśavarṇanaṃ nāma dvādaśo 'dhyāyaḥ karṣaka iti kha, cihnitapustakapāṭhaḥ atha trayodaśo 'dhyāyaḥ kurupāṇḍavotpattyādikathanaṃ agnir uvāca bhārataṃ sampravakṣyāmi kṛṣṇamāhātmyalakṣaṇam bhūbhāramaharadviṣṇur nimittīkṛtya pāṇḍavān

Nun beginnt das dreizehnte Kapitel: „Erzählung von der Entstehung der Kurus und der Pāṇḍavas und verwandten Dingen“. Agni sprach: „Jetzt werde ich die Bhārata (die Mahābhārata-Erzählung) darlegen, gekennzeichnet durch die Größe Kṛṣṇas.
