सूत उवाच । यस्मिन् काले क्षितिः पूर्वं वराहवपुषा तु सा । उद्धृता विष्णुना भक्त्या पप्रच्छ परमेश्वरम् ॥ १.४ ॥

সূত বললেন—যে সময়ে পূর্বে বিষ্ণু বরাহরূপ ধারণ করে পৃথিবীকে উদ্ধার করেছিলেন, তখন সেই পৃথিবী ভক্তিসহ পরমেশ্বরকে প্রশ্ন করল।
