हत्वा गावो वरं मांसं भक्षयीत द्विजाधमः । वरं जीवन्समं मत्स्यैर्न कुर्याद्वेदविक्रयम् । ब्रह्महत्यासमं पापं न भूतं न भविष्यति
hatvā gāvo varaṃ māṃsaṃ bhakṣayīta dvijādhamaḥ | varaṃ jīvansamaṃ matsyairna kuryādvedavikrayam | brahmahatyāsamaṃ pāpaṃ na bhūtaṃ na bhaviṣyati
নিকৃষ্ট দ্বিজের পক্ষে গাভী হত্যা করে মাংস ভক্ষণ করাও বরং ভালো, মাছের মতো জীবনযাপন করাও বরং ভালো—তবু বেদের বিক্রয় করা উচিত নয়। এ পাপের তুল্য ব্রহ্মহত্যাসম পাপ অতীতে ছিল না, ভবিষ্যতেও হবে না।
