Pulastya
Tirtha: Īśānī-śikhara (kathā to follow)
Type: peak
Listener: Yayāti
Scene: Pulastya begins the divine narration: he sits in a calm teaching posture, Yayāti listens with folded hands; behind them, the sacred peak is bathed in a gentle, otherworldly light, indicating the ‘divya’ nature of the account.
Śravaṇa of sacred history (purāṇa-kathā) is itself a purifier, emphasizing devotion through listening as a dharmic practice.
The narrative introduced here pertains to the greatness of Īśānī-śikhara and the events that sanctified it.
Listening (śṛṇu/saṃśravaṇa) to the tīrtha-māhātmya is presented as a spiritually efficacious act.
