एतस्मिन्नेव काले तु उत्पातास्तत्र दारुणाः । अपसव्यं मृगाश्चक्रुः पशवः पक्षिणश्च ये । तान्दृष्ट्वा चिन्तयामास मुद्गलो विस्मयान्वितः
etasminneva kāle tu utpātāstatra dāruṇāḥ | apasavyaṃ mṛgāścakruḥ paśavaḥ pakṣiṇaśca ye | tāndṛṣṭvā cintayāmāsa mudgalo vismayānvitaḥ
ঠিক সেই সময় সেখানে ভয়ংকর অমঙ্গল-লক্ষণ দেখা দিল। হরিণ, পশু ও পাখিরা অপসব্যভাবে (বামদিকে) চলতে লাগল। সেই নিদর্শন দেখে মুদ্গল বিস্ময়ে ভরে মনে মনে চিন্তা করলেন।
