এ কথা শুনে গরুড় তৎক্ষণাৎ পাশুপত ব্রত গ্রহণ করলেন। বিধিপূর্বক ঈশান দেব (শিব)-কে প্রতিষ্ঠা করে পরে তাঁকে সন্তুষ্ট করতে উদ্যোগী হলেন।
