eko vedaścatuṣpādaiḥ kriyate dvijahetave | itihāsapurāṇāni bhidyaṃte lokagauravāt

দ্বিজদের কল্যাণার্থে এক বেদকে চার পাদে (চার ভাগে) রূপ দেওয়া হয়। লোকের মর্যাদা ও পথপ্রদর্শনের জন্য ইতিহাস ও পুরাণও পৃথকভাবে বিভক্ত হয়।
