Transliteration

gāyatrī vedajananī gāyatrī brāhmaṇaprasūḥ | gātāraṃ trāyate yasmādgāyatrī tena gīyate

Translation

গায়ত্রী বেদের জননী; গায়ত্রী ব্রাহ্মণদের প্রসূতি। যেহেতু তিনি গায়ক/জপকার (গাতা)-কে রক্ষা করেন, তাই তিনি ‘গায়ত্রী’ নামে গীত।
