প্রজার বিনাশ হওয়ায় জগদ্যোনি (ব্রহ্মা) অত্যন্ত চিন্তিত হলেন। প্রজারা ক্ষীণ হলে যজ্ঞাদি ক্রিয়াও ক্ষীণ হয়ে গেল।
