श्रीमार्कण्डेय उवाच । तत्र तीर्थे तु यो भक्त्या नवम्यां नियतः शुचिः । उपोष्य परया भक्त्या पूजयेन्मातृगोचरम्

শ্রী মার্কণ্ডেয় বললেন— যে ব্যক্তি সেই তীর্থে নবমীতে সংযত ও শুচি হয়ে উপবাস করে এবং পরম ভক্তিতে মাতৃগোচর (মাতৃমণ্ডল) পূজা করে,

Purity, restraint, and devoted observance (vrata) at a tīrtha intensify the grace of the Divine Mothers.
