श्रीमार्कण्डेय उवाच । शृणु राजन्यथावृत्तपुरा त्रेतायुगे क्षितौ । लोकपालोपमो राजा देवपन्नो महामतिः
śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca | śṛṇu rājanyathāvṛttapurā tretāyuge kṣitau | lokapālopamo rājā devapanno mahāmatiḥ
শ্রী মার্কণ্ডেয় বললেন—হে রাজন! শোন, প্রাচীনকালে পৃথিবীতে ত্রেতাযুগে যা ঘটেছিল। লোকপালের ন্যায় এক মহামতি রাজা ছিলেন, তাঁর নাম দেবপন্ন।
